![]() Unfortunately, the film was never really intended for release, a minor detail withheld from the cast and crew. ![]() ![]() To the credit of all involved, Sassone, his cast and his crew not only got the film finished on time but also managed to create what is still the only live-action production of Fantastic Four to date. Given a ridiculously short pre-production and shooting schedule (thanks to some dirt back room dealings by Marvel Comics) and a paltry $2 million budget, Sassone attempted to make a film that most of the major studios had tentatively budgeted at over $150 million. It was the director's involvement with the ill-fated Roger Corman production of The Fantastic Four that would make Sassone's name known to genre fans around the world. Sassone also exhibited an ability to handle SF / Fantasy / Horror film making, as evidenced by his work on such fare as Final Embrace (1992). Joking aside, Sassone developed a reputation for being able to direct action films on a low budget and on schedule, something that will always get you work in Hollywood. After all, it just isn't an action film if Cynthia Rothrock or Don "The Dragon" Wilson don't make an appearance. The film got Sassone some attention and some action / exploitation work as a director, working with some of the best known names in the action movie market. BIOGRAPHY: The son of famous hair product mogul Vidal Sasoon and actress Beverly Adams, Oley Sassone started his film career with some promise, co-writing and producing the film Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken in 1991. ![]()
